The Ballet Women's Committee is a group of 175 active and some 50 associate
members. We are mostly from the Vestavia area, although we have members from
Mountain Brook, Hoover and Shelby County.
Our stated purpose, according to our
bylaws, is to foster interest in and promote the development of ballet in
Alabama by educational, charitable and cultural projects and performances.
Founded in 1967, we meet once a month and have two events each year that support
our club and allow us to make charitable donations. Our annual Fall Extravaganza in October at Vestavia Country Club features a luncheon,
fashion show, auction, and retail shop with baked goodies, holiday items, and many other surprises. The Poinsettia Debutante
Ball in December after Christmas has been an annual tradition since 1968.
In 2009, we were proud to present
the Alabama Ballet with a check for $70,000.
