Ballet Women's Comittee Halloween Extravaganza

Members of Ballet Women’s Committee held an Auction and Halloween
Extravaganza recently at Vestavia Country Club. Thousands of dollars
were raised to benefit the Alabama Ballet. The event consisted of a
silent auction with hundreds of donated items and services, a gallery
showcasing holiday items and plants for sale, a book section and
gourmet home baked foods for sale.
President Tammy Towns welcomed more than 300 guests, who were
treated to a gourmet luncheon and a fall and holiday fashion show by
Steinmart. The Alabama Ballet dancers from “Dracula” delighted
attendees with an appearance, modeling and dancing in their costumes.
They were presented by Leslie Cooper of the Alabama Ballet.
Models in the fashion show were: BWC members Ms. Towns, Ms. Cooper,
Suzanne McQuiston and friends of the BWC Judy Adams, Jennifer Alden,
Judy Bradley, Shannon Moore, Betty Ponder, Carolyn Whisenhunt and
Patricia Wiley.
Luncheon tablescapes, designed by Belinda Malke, featured large tin
vases of fall-colored gerbera daisies with fresh greenery, tall
cylinder vases of spiked Vear grass and an array of orange votives on
bunched fabric, arranged in pinecone motifs
Mary Kay Campbell of Hoover won the raffle prize, which was a pair
of John Hardy diamond-and-silver earrings donated by Barton-Clay Fine
Jewelers. A Steinmart gift certificate was presented to BWC member Jane
Smith for the most creative Halloween costume, which was a bewitching
pumpkin.
Others who donated items to the auction were: Pat Dye, Bart Starr,
Johnny Musso, Pat Sullivan, Tommy Tuberville, Amy Head, Art Alley, Bear
Creek Glass, Bloom-Masterpiece, Blue Willow, Brookwood Dermatology,
CharHouse, Dorothy McDaniels, Framin Shoppe, Frank Stitt, Jewels by
Rose, Lambs Ears, Lily Pad, Loretta Goodwin, Mark’s Outdoors, Monograms
Plus, Prettys by Kristin Harwell, Taylor Hicks, Valley Cleaners and
many members.
More than 100 members and 200 guests attended. Organizing the event
were: club president and corporate tables chairman Ms. Towns; auction
chairmen Tootsie Chandler, Jeanne Lollar and Tealla Stewart; Cathy
Pecher, ads; Valerie Dean, Jane Parrish and Janet Issis, bake sale;
Susan Baker, book sale; Margaret Rickard and Angela Thornton, gift
bags; Millie Chandler and Susan Orr, entertainment; Rita Wood, fashion
show; Stacy Kingren, garden shop; Nancy Kennedy and Ann Mims, holiday
shop; Debbie Linbaugh, items collection; Ms. Chandler, programs; Diane
Muma, publicity; Sarah Cowart, raffle; Carol Ann Morrison and Susan
Moreland, reservations; Leigh Ann Yeilding, setup; Ms. Stewart and
Stacy Kingren, signs; Tina Westbrook and Sally Young, sign-in table;
Ms. Malke, table decorations; and Amy Zaira, checkout.
