Ballet Women's Committee Celebrates Successful Fundraiser

New officers of the Ballet Women's Committee

 The Ballet Women's Committee held a celebration marking a successful year of fund-raising by presenting the Alabama Ballet with a check in the amount of $70,000. The presentation was made at its membership meeting on held at the Vestavia home of Lori Webster in May.

Alice Cox, executive director of the Alabama Ballet, and Leslie Cooper, director of marketing and public relations, accepted the check from president Tammy Towns and treasurer Celia Anthony. Mrs. Cox offered a drawing for season tickets for two, which was won by new member Karen Barganier.

The committee installed new officers at the meeting, as well as welcoming 24 new members. Each new member and officer was presented with a long stem pink rose and baby's breath tied with pink ribbons.

New officers are: Leigh Ann Yeilding, president; Sally Young, vice president; Nancy Kennedy, secretary; Stacy Kingren, corresponding secretary; Amy Zarra, treasurer; Jeanne Lollar, assistant treasurer; Lisa Henley, ball chairman; Vicki Kirkpatrick, ball co-chairman; and Tammy Towns, advisor.

The outgoing president was presented with a large basket of spring flowers by Melinda Helveston in appreciation of her service for the past two years. Mrs. Towns then presented Mrs. Henley with a large green plant in a painted vase for her job as 2006 ball chairman.

New members include: Kim Alexander, Mary Jo Angelo, Kim Benos, Sarah Hacker Bowman, Pam Cook, Julie Cox, Shawn Dunaway, Beth Evans, Elizabeth Ferguson, Liz Phillips Guest, Candy Hacker, Anna Harris, Debra Lamb, Desiree Maples, Patti Pierce, Janet Robertshaw, Karen Ross, Sally Sinclair, Melissie Stewart, Kelly Thompson, Donna Vaughn and Mary Lee Wyatt.

Ruby Cade and her culinary committee provided a brunch. The tablescape featured a display of sterling silver trumpet baskets of varying heights filled with bouquets of yellow, pink, red and apricot roses intertwined with matching ribbons.
