The event, held at Vestavia Country Club, was hosted by Lindsey Amick, escorted by her father, David Amick; Grace Anthony, escorted by her father Alan Anthony; Lauren Bohorfoush, escorted by her father, George Bohorfoush; Amy Harris escorted by her father, Reg Harris; Emma Robertshaw, escorted by her father, Tom Robertshaw; Ashley Ross, escorted by her father Paul Ross; Sloan Schmidtke, escorted by her father, Brian Schmidtke; Ansley Zarra, escorted by her father, Mickey Zarra; all of Vestavia Hills, and Jenna Bryant, escorted by her brother, Justin Bryant of Hoover.

Tables were decorated with poinsettias wrapped in gold lamé and tied with a tartan Christmas ribbon, all set on octagonal mirrors. Debutantes’ places were designated with a wrapped gift that contained a glass ornament with a handpainted poinsettia and date on it. Votive candles and holly completed the table adornment.

Dinner began with a salad of baby greens with mandarin oranges and sundried cherries, candied pecans and raspberry vinaigrette. The main course was a petite filet mignon and chicken piccata with lemon caper butter, served over garlic whipped potatoes and baby vegetables. A red velvet cupcake tree topped off the meal.

Traditionally, the first dance at the Poinsettia Debutante Ball is a waltz. Therefore, this was the first dance that the debutantes and their escorts were taught. After the dessert break, the instructors taught participants how to swing dance. Hostesses presented each young lady with a CD of waltzes and swing music, as well as a gift certificate for an additional dance lesson at Fred Astaire Studio.

Debutantes and their fathers in attendance were: Sadie Batson and Rick Batson, Lacy Mann and Ted Mann, Heather Morgan and Paul Morgan, Katherine Clark and David Clark, Walker DeBardeleben and Charles DeBardeleben, Marion Koepsel and Bill Koepsel, Nancy Ennis and Mitchell Ennis, Margaret Crossman and Brian Bailey, Logan Dowell and Bill Dowell, Edith Turnipseed and Jim Turnipseed, Mallory Waites and Jay Waites, Bethany Inman and Phillip Inman, Michelle Mangham and John Barelare, Abbey Mills and Ted Mills, Lauren Parks and Mike Parks, Laura Sims and Tom Sims, Katie Strozier and Brett Sims, Courtney Terry and Joe Terry, Melissa Moreland and Larry Moreland, and Kimber Williams and Glen Williams.
